Intended use

Nexus has been developed to make it possible for healthcare professionals to easily make teleconsultations, tele-expertise and teleassistance. However, a Nexus software training is recommended.

With Nexus, clinicians (emergency physicians, doctors, nurses, etc.) can send requests for second opinions or interpretations to specialists (radiologists, neurologists, neurosurgeons, cardiologists…) at remote sites. The clinical and imaging data exchange is securely sent between sites, for all connected institutions.

Nexus includes the following features:

  • storage of studies (radiology, images, documents and video)

  • visualization

  • cases (structured cooperation between remote healthcare professionals)

The applications range from MACS (management of imaging between institutions) to telemedicine (teleradiology, tele-expertise, etc.) via the secure exchange network.

Nexus users profiles

Since Nexus addresses various usage contexts, it can be used by the following user profiles:

  • Physicians – Clinicians, emergency physicians or specialized physicians.

  • Radiology operators – They may have to send DICOM studies to a remote site for interpretation or on request of a site taking care of a patient.

  • PACS technicians or administrators – They may have to import studies from Nexus into PACS (storage and archive server).

  • Nurses – As part of continuity in care, a nurse may have to transfer dermatology pictures to request an opinion from a remote site.

Nexus can open a medical image viewer: Mobile Viewer. The purpose of this viewer is to provide clinicians with an overview of the study. It should not be used for diagnostic purposes. Our advanced Expert Viewer is available as an option for diagnostic use.

Cybersecurity

Nexus must be deployed and used according to the requirements and recommendations specified by the manufacturer.
