Manage the local site DICOM applications

DICOM applications hosted on DICOM equipment (imaging modalities, diagnostic workstations, etc.) are each identified uniquely using an Application Entity Title (AE Title). A single DICOM equipment can host more than one DICOM application. To make it possible for a DICOM application to communicate with Nexus, you need to declare its AE Title in Nexus. You also need to declare the Nexus AE Title on the DICOM application.

To access DICOM applications management, click on Administration under your name at the top right, then on DICOM applications.

Add a DICOM application

In the DICOM applications page, click on Add an application.

General information

In the General Information section, fill in the following information:

  • the application Name,

  • its IP address,

  • its Port number,

  • its AE Title.

If you declare the application as a Store SCU and/or a QnR SCU, the port number is optional.

DICOM settings

Specify the DICOM services provided by this DICOM application and that Nexus will support:

  • Store SCP : The DICOM application can receive studies and you want Nexus to be able to send studies to it. This service is required in particular on workstations to which studies attached to cases will be transferred.

  • Store SCU : The DICOM application can send studies and you want Nexus to accept studies received from the application. This service is required in particular on imaging modalities that will send studies to Nexus.

  • QnR SCP : The DICOM application can be queried to transfer studies to the Nexus server in your institution or to remote institutions. This service is required on the PACS servers that will be queried from Nexus.

  • QnR SCU : The DICOM application can query Nexus for studies and request to send them to a declared DICOM application.

  • Worklist SCP : The DICOM application can be queried by Nexus to return patient and study information.

  • Commit SCU : The DICOM application can request Nexus to confirm it has received studies sent by the application.

You can click on the Test button to check the connection to the DICOM application. Generally, an error occurs if the application is not available, or if the IP address or IP port number is wrong.

Communities

You must define the list of communities to which the application will be allowed to send studies and/or which it will be allowed to query according to the configuration in the DICOM settings.
